there was an old saying that if you do kiss under the mistletoe, it is a promise of getting married, have a long life, and great happiness. Yes it is good luck, but now people just kiss under the mistletoe because it is just an excuse to receive a kiss and today kisses under the mistletoe can be done at any time during the year, not just the christmas holidays.
